Emily Irene VanCamp was originally looking to become a dancer, but following a trip to Katie's studio for the show Ladies Room, she became more inclined to act. She started taking acting classes, and also landed appearances on television shows in her native Canada. The shows she had starred in among other ones included: Are You afraid of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp experienced career breakthrough following his appearance as regular Sam Dolan on the WB horror-themed mystery series Glory Days. Even though the show was receiving favorable reviews, the show unfortunately was cancelled after only nine episode due to its poor ratings. Despite her May 12th 1986 birth date her actress was offered the role of Everwood in its cast as Amy Abbott. This role led to her being nominated for a Young Artist Award nominee and for four Teen Choice Awards.
